The sketch is kept simple, take care that the horizon is not in the middle
of the paper!
The tree is only given his place in the painting, nothing more no branches
what so ever!
For
the sky I made two mixes, one with Cobalt Blue en
Permanent Rose,
And the last one only Raw Sienna and water.
For the
grass I used Cobalt blue and Aurolieën Yellow and a other mix from Cobalt
Blue en Raw Sienna, The darkest edges are made from Cobalt Blue and Burnt Sienna
While the
paint in the sky is still wet I drip in darker en not to wet pigment to
give on the distance trees. This must be done in wet in wet for giving
distance in the watercolor. |

T he
sky was a little to light so I wetted it again with a
vaporatiseur so that my pigment give me no hard edges!
But this
you got to find out yourself, am I light enough am I dark enough, are
questions you always must ask yourself!
Now let the painting completely dry!

Now the sky is dry I can paint the tree on!
I make three mixes, one light from Cobalt Blue and Raw Sienna and a darker
from Cobalt blue Raw Sienna and a little Burnt Sienna.
And
the darkest mix for the tree and the shadows French Ultramarine and
Warm Sepia.

I make trees and use the roughness of the paper, don't try this technique
on smooth paper.
It doesn't work then!
Make wet and colorful mixes
cause the pain must be flew in each other, also no hard edges are allowed
here.
Begin from light colors to the darkest ones!
Keep the brush so flat as possible, and with a light touch in contact with
the paper. |

As
finishing touch, I make with "A Rigger" the fine branches
and the fence by the tree, the trunk I do also with the rigger
When the
trunk is still wet I take some paint of with a Kleenex or a dry sable
brush to give variation and gradation.
For the
water I made it firs carefully wet on the places I want water, notice the
white line by the wet in wet trees in the distance! Keep the line dry, or
you are in trouble.
Use the
same mixes in the water as you used for the sky, and off course for the
tree reflections take the tree mixes. |

|
|
|
|
|
| |
 |
|
Dont be
afraid to get to dark for the tree reflections, its always dries lighter
then you aspect.
Give the grass edge also a reflection. Do this when the paint is still
wet, cause hard edges in water looks not right
Don't
forget the reflections from the distance trees
Water is soft or rough! so always wet in wet or rough brush technique.
Never hard edges. |
|
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
| |
 |
|
At the end when the water is still drying, I make a brush not to wet, just
damp the brush, and I can lifting up some paint.
Keep horizontal!
Do this
and do it in the darkest areas, and don't overdue it!
I
make al my paintings standing behind a easel, so that my brushwork is
loose and I cannot fiddle!
Have fun!!
